Dale Graff Produce for this week.

Deer Island Farms

Hi,

Bluecrop blueberries are new on the list this week.  Supplies are limited so order early for best chances.

Cherry update.  There continues to be unseasonable rain in the Yakima Valley and it is up in the air as to whether the rest of the crop will be ruined before I can get another load.  Go ahead and place orders for cherries but I may need to cancel them if the quality is poor.

Unless noted as "new crop," items below are from the 2012 harvest.

Beaverton - Make Note.  Home Depot asked that I not make deliveries there any more.  The new delivery location is the parking lot of Michael's Arts and Crafts on Western - just south of Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy.

Order deadline will be 5:00 Wednesday, June 26.

Thanks,
Dale Graff

Bulk Toilet Paper and Paper Towels

I ordered this toilet paper a few years back and really liked it.  It isn't super soft with lots of fluff filler like a Charmin type paper, nor is it a scratchy bargain type.  It's somewhere in between.  If you are interested in ordering, please let Scott Foster know.  Here's his original email.  I ordered some and would be happy to coordinate picking it up.

Prepare now everyone:

In connection with a friend of mine in the janitorial business, we would like to offer an opportunity to buy bulk toilet paper and paper towels.  The details are as follows:

Toilet paper               -                $ 50.00 per case (96 rolls per case)  2-ply, very soft in my opinion.  We have done this before with nothing but positive  comments on price and softness.

Paper towels              -               $ 28.00 per case (30 rolls of 80 sheets or 24 rolls of 110 sheets - depending on stock)

Please let me know if you are interested.  The estimated pick up date is Thursday June 27th on the west side.  I have a location in mind on Beaverton Hillsdale highway but need to confirm that it is o.k. to use it.  If interested, please respond with your name, phone number, and quantity of each product desired.  We only need a couple of days to prepare the order.  I will need checks mailed to 2711 se laurel St.  Portland, Oregon, 97267.    The checks  will need to be made out to me (Scott or Lucinda Foster) so that I can write one check for the entire order.  There is zero mark-up on this order.  I would ask that checks arrive at the above address no later than Wednesday, June 26th

Please let me know what questions you may have! (preferably by email.)

Zaycon Chicken

Zaycon is offering CHICKEN again.  It's a great price for some high quality boneless, skinless chicken breasts.  They come attached and you need to cut them apart and trim a little fat before you freeze them.  I like to cut some in strips and chunks before freezing to save time later.  It's $1.79 per pound in 40# boxes.  Those boxes are subdivided into 4 ten pound boxes if you are sharing with a friend.  The closest locations are Salem and Tigard.

Here's a link!

Zaycon Chicken

Zaycon Foods has high quality fresh meats that you buy in bulk.  Right now they are selling chicken for $1.69 lb.  It comes in 40 lb. boxes that are divided into 10 pound bags so you could easily share a box.  The breasts are whole, boneless, and skinless.  I cut mine in halves, trim the fat and freeze them.

Read through their info for how it works.  I have bought from them several times and have been happy with the product.

DeAnn Steele is ordering and you could coordinate with her so everyone doesn't drive down.

They also have a referral program where anyone you refer earns you one dollar every time they order.

Here's a link to their site.

TK Orchards

TK Orchards, 23513 NE Boones Ferry Rd, Aurora has Veteran peaches that are ready.  Just turn west onto Arndt Road from the Hubbard Cut Off and then turn north onto Boones Ferry immediately after the I-5 underpass, there are signs too.  Their U-pick is $0.80 a pound.  I understand that you can also take culls from the ground for free as long as you take less than the amount you picked and paid for.  I am going there tomorrow to check it out.  Anyone else get this great deal?  Their hours are listed on their Facebook page and they update it often with the varieties that are ready to be picked.  They also have peaches that are picked if you'd rather just swing by and grab some.

UPDATE 8/24/12
I went today and it's true!  You can glean for free as long as they are a lesser weight than the u-pick that you pay for.

Dale Graff's Produce for 8/18

Hi,
Here is what I will have available for delivery on Saturday, August 18. I highly recommend the Red Gold nectarines and both the Roza Hale and Suncrest peaches for fresh eating and canning. Organic nectarines and peaches are also available again this week.
Regarding last week's security/privacy question - thanks to everyone who responded. I had many excellent suggestions but what is going to work best for me is to keep on doing what I have been doing. If you want to be known by an alias to protect your identity, please let me know.
Order deadline will be 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Thanks,
Dale Graff

Blueberries U Pick

Brother and Sister Lim told me about Willenberg Blueberry Farm - 32747 S Orchard Lane, Woodburn.  I took my kids today and picked blueberries for $1 a pound.  It was really easy to find if you've ever been out to the tulip festival.  Turn R on Meridian either off Whiskey Hill or 211.  Turn R onto S Elliott Prairie/Hughes Road and then R on Orchard Lane.  There are signs all along the way.  Liz and I picked for a half hour and had 5 pounds.

Pear Guy

The Pear Guy is preparing to deliver pears to our area again this year.  We are looking at a delivery date between Aug 15th and 30th.  You can order yours now to be picked up at our stake center.  The pears will be in 40 pound boxes for $23.00 ($0.575 per pound). The pears will be delivered C.O.D. so we must collect the money in advance in order to deliver payment at the time of delivery.  This year we will be making one check for the entire stake.  So cash is appreciated, but if you would rather do a check, please make it out to Kristi Isaksen.  Ward pear coordinators must turn in the order form and payment to Kristi Isaksen by July 29th.  Please let Kristi Isaksen know how many boxes you would like via email - bird_herd7@hotmail.com.
