TK Orchards

TK Orchards, 23513 NE Boones Ferry Rd, Aurora has Veteran peaches that are ready.  Just turn west onto Arndt Road from the Hubbard Cut Off and then turn north onto Boones Ferry immediately after the I-5 underpass, there are signs too.  Their U-pick is $0.80 a pound.  I understand that you can also take culls from the ground for free as long as you take less than the amount you picked and paid for.  I am going there tomorrow to check it out.  Anyone else get this great deal?  Their hours are listed on their Facebook page and they update it often with the varieties that are ready to be picked.  They also have peaches that are picked if you'd rather just swing by and grab some.

UPDATE 8/24/12
I went today and it's true!  You can glean for free as long as they are a lesser weight than the u-pick that you pay for.

Norpac Food Store

Norpac has a retail store located at 2325 Madrona Ave SE, Salem, OR 97302.  Look for the building with a shopping cart on the side.  The "store" is down the hallway on the right side of the break room.  They have canned and frozen goods.  These are items that didn't make the cut for retail locations.  Cash only.

UPDATE 8/16/2012
They are closed until mid November, but the store is in Building #7 through the Personnel Only door (map above points to door) behind the Main Office door.  The building has a large white shopping cart on it and is across the street from buildings 6 and 8.

Stake Events

Save the Date!  Friday, September 14th at 7pm is the annual Stake Graze.  This year will be better than ever.  Ten dishes from each ward to taste, food demos and information.  If you've got a fresh from the garden or food storage dish that you'd like to share, please sign up.

The next morning is the Marion/Polk Food Share drive.  Our ward will be meeting with other churches in our boundaries to canvas the towns of Aurora, Donald, Hubbard, and St. Paul.  You should start hearing about it in your town's newsletter, tv and radio ads, and in the newspapers.  The Stake has organized everything and is ready to go.  Come and enjoy doing some real good for our community while getting some exercise.

Sign ups for both these events will start circulating this Sunday.

Regarding last week's security/privacy question - thanks to everyone who responded. I had many excellent suggestions but what is going to work best for me is to keep on doing what I have been doing. If you want to be known by an alias to protect your identity, please let me know.
Order deadline will be 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Blueberries U Pick

Brother and Sister Lim told me about Willenberg Blueberry Farm - 32747 S Orchard Lane, Woodburn.  I took my kids today and picked blueberries for $1 a pound.  It was really easy to find if you've ever been out to the tulip festival.  Turn R on Meridian either off Whiskey Hill or 211.  Turn R onto S Elliott Prairie/Hughes Road and then R on Orchard Lane.  There are signs all along the way.  Liz and I picked for a half hour and had 5 pounds.
