LDS Newsletters

I found this website with newsletters that a Provo RS sent out to their members years ago regarding food storage.  Much of their advice still applies today.  Worth a look.  Click here to go to their site.

Pear Guy

The Pear Guy is preparing to deliver pears to our area again this year.  We are looking at a delivery date between Aug 15th and 30th.  You can order yours now to be picked up at our stake center.  The pears will be in 40 pound boxes for $23.00 ($0.575 per pound). The pears will be delivered C.O.D. so we must collect the money in advance in order to deliver payment at the time of delivery.  This year we will be making one check for the entire stake.  So cash is appreciated, but if you would rather do a check, please make it out to Kristi Isaksen.  Ward pear coordinators must turn in the order form and payment to Kristi Isaksen by July 29th.  Please let Kristi Isaksen know how many boxes you would like via email - bird_herd7@hotmail.com.

Gingerich Farms

Gingerich Farms is having their Blueberry Blowout!  I like to buy their 30lb. box of flash frozen blueberries and use them for Saturday morning muffins.  They are great in orange spinach smoothies too!

New Nutritional Calculator

I'm so excited that the lds.org website has a New Nutritional Calculator.  It not only calculates your BMI, but will take into consideration your activity level and age and will give you an estimated caloric intake along with a daily serving listing for the basic food groups.  My kids had a lot of fun putting in their information and writing down what they should be eating each day.  Click here for a link to the Calculator..

School Backpacks

Years ago, my sister-in-law told me about LL Bean for school backpacks and lunch boxes.  If something breaks or wears out, they replace them.  I had a diaper bag from them and the zipper pull broke.  They didn't have another so they refunded it for the full price!  I have bought the junior size for all my kids and no one has worn theirs out.  My girls used theirs until they were in third grade, then we bought a bigger size.   Check out their clearance backpacks too.  Right now they have free shipping with no minimum order.

Girl's Swimsuits

Found a great sale on swimsuits for girl's at Fred Meyer.  One piece, tankini two piece and also some with separate skirts were $9.99.  Super cute and good quality.
